Bike to Work Week: Getting More Butts (and Seat Covers) on Bikes

How we’re hyping the power of the bicycle during this bike-aware week.

Bike to Work Week: Getting More Butts (and Seat Covers) on Bikes

For one week each May, municipalities of all sizes across the country get together to encourage more community members to commute to work by bike.

Born from the first Bike to Work Day in 1959, Bike to Work Week is a great time to spread enthusiasm about the bike and bicycles infrastructure. This year, we’ve got a vision of more butts on bikes. And as a company fixated on inspiring people to live their lives by bike, we’re taking this bike-focused week by the seat cover.

Wait. What does that mean?

We’re so glad you asked.

For this year’s Bike to Work Week, we’ve rounded-up the first-ever Bike Fixation Street Crü. Made up of our Brand Advocates and volunteers, these Crü members are taking to the street to hype the power of the bike.

How? With Bike Fixation seat covers, of course.

Starting today, May 14th, through Friday, May 18th, Crü members will be decking out random bicycles in their community with Bike Fixation seat covers. It’s our way of saying, “Thanks for riding!”

While these little red accessories resemble a shower cap, they’re not (usually) for your head. Instead they’re a Euro-cool way of helping you spot your ride in a sea of bikes, in addition to keeping your seat dry in the rain.

And if you’ve got a member of the Bike Fixation Street Crü in your neighborhood, you might see these seat covers randomly on display this week – or better yet, maybe your bike will catch the eye of a Crü member.

But Wait, There’s More...

Plus, part of our grand vision to encourage more trips by bike we’re giving out $1,000 in cycling infrastructure to the location of one lucky winner’s choosing.

To get entered for a chance to win:

  1. Get out in your ‘hood and keep your eyes open for bikes sporting a Bike Fixation seat cover.
  2. If you spot one, snap a photo – the image must contain the bike with the seat cover, as well as yourself (aka: bike seat selfie!)
  3. Email the photo to us at seatcovers@saris.com

The random winner of infrastructure products will be selected and notified by email on Monday, May 21st with an announcement via the Bike Fixation Facebook page later that week.

How will I know if Bike Fixation seat covers are in my city?

As our Crü members go about their secret gifting mission, hyping the power of the bike, they’ll be dropping clues on social media with the hashtag #bikefixation.
