In addition to featuring the products and layout, we wanted to understand the motivations and benefits of those creating and using these facilities. For February, we are featuring Takoma Central, an apartment home development in Washington DC, and owner of The Bike Rack and bikeroomdesigns.com, Chuck Harney:
This was new construction and DC mandates bike parking for new buildings. In addition, the developer is a cyclist and understands the need and the marketing potential of a really nicely designed bike room.
According to the developer, the room is heavily used and the tenants love it.
I developed a great relationship/partnership with Saris on the commercial side. Saris offers a variety of products to fit any bike room need.
This month we’re highlighting a community that is showcasing their commitment to cyclists. Montgomery, Alabama, recently installed a handful of new parking racks for riders in their city.
This month we shine the light on the City of Holland, Michigan.
